Hotel Booking Alert

It has been brought to our attention that a company called "Conventioneers" has recently contacted HFES members and others to offer their hotel reservation services.

To be clear, this company, and any third-party company claiming to represent HFES, ARE NOT IN ANY WAY affiliated with HFES and are NOT authorized to use our name, the name of our symposium, or the name of our meeting hotel. Unfortunately, this can be a common occurrence for association meetings and conventions. By not reserving within the HFES room block, we could face liability including penalties from the hotel for not meeting our contracted room block target.

How do they operate?
Companies and individuals aggressively cold-call and email members and exhibitors and may target individuals with the concern of not having a hotel room available or with a so-called large discount on the hotel room rate.  Once you’ve indicated interest, they will send you a contract or ask for your credit card details. Do not sign any document or provide your credit card details.

No one should contact you directly to book your hotel room or offer you a “special discounted conference rate”. If you receive one of these calls or emails, it is a scam. They are not affiliated with HFES.

How to reserve your hotel accommodations safely?
Hotel reservations should be secured only via the online registration for the symposium found on our website here.
