Nomination Submission Form

Important Information

For each office, there are a minimum number of nominations required to enable one to be included on the election ballot:

  • 15 for President-Elect
  • 12 for Secretary-Treasurer-Elect
  • 10 for At-Large Executive Council

A rule change approved by the Executive Council in September 2024 allows a single candidate to appear on the ballot should no other eligible candidates be nominated.  The Executive Council also approved a new goal to increase diversity in that, when possible, one candidate for at-large Executive Council member will be from the Academic category and one from the Practitioner category:

  • Academic Category: Individuals whose primary professional role is, or has been, within a college or university.  Candidates in this category typically hold or have held positions as professors, researchers or administrators
  • Practitioner Category: Individuals whose primary professional role is, or has been, in industry, consulting, government or the military
  • If no candidates surface in one of the above categories, all candidates from the other category will appear on the ballot

Campaigning

No Society resources or assets (funds, mailing lists, HFES Connect communities, etc.) may be used by candidates to campaign nor by others to support or call for the election of any candidate.  Individuals may campaign on their own using their own networks.  Candidates may use contact information of members found in the membership directory; however, it is prohibited to manually or in an automated manner to bulk download, scrape, copy or otherwise collect member data.  HFES staff will, upon request of a candidate, post a candidate profile of no more than 500 words in an official HFES platform (HFES Connect, the Bulletin, broadcast email, etc.). The candidate profile shall be written by the candidate and is subject to approval by the Nominations and Elections Committee.
