Campaign Statement
I am honored to be nominated for Member-at-Large of the HFES Executive Council.

HFES has been my professional home since graduate school. Early on, I found mentors who generously shared their knowledge and opened my eyes to the possibilities within the HF/E domain. Along the way, I found colleagues, collaborators and lifelong relationships that shaped my career and reinforced the profound value of our community.

My journey began in ergonomics research and evolved through manufacturing, human factors, UX and standards development. Through it all, I learned that deeply understanding people is what allows us to design systems that truly work for them.

Today, as a Distinguished Member of Technical Staff and Senior Principal Engineer at Dell Technologies, I help integrate UX, human factors, ergonomics, research and sustainability into enterprise datacenter solutions and contribute to Dell patent disclosures.

Before Dell, I spent eleven years as a Platform Ergonomist at General Motors, supporting vehicle manufacturing. Earlier, as Center Administrator for the NSF I/UCRC (Ergonomics) at Texas A&M University, I led efforts to connect academic inquiry with real-world industry challenges. These experiences reinforced my belief that meaningful innovation occurs where research, design and practice intersect.

Over the years, I have actively looked to give back to the Society in the same way others invested in me. Elevating to HFES Fellow was a deeply humbling milestone that strengthened my desire to serve. Through technical groups, standards, mentoring, conference planning, and peer reviews, I have worked alongside students, practitioners and emerging leaders. Helping establish the Sustainability TG, co-founding the HFES BIPOC Mentoring Circle and serving in various volunteer roles have shown me that our profession grows when we create opportunities for others to participate, contribute and lead.

I currently chair ISO TC159/SC5 (Physical Environment) and, for over eleven years, have represented Dell on the Office of Ergonomics Research Council, supporting university-led pilot but innovative research projects with small funding. If elected Member-at-Large, my focus will be on listening to our members and ensuring their diverse perspectives are brought to the forefront of Council decisions. HFES has given me the opportunity to learn, contribute, and grow and I want to ensure the next generation finds those same opportunities.

HFES is more than a professional society; it is a community that has given me far more than I could ever repay. It would be my privilege to continue paying that debt forward by serving HFES and its members.
