NEM Sessions at the HFES Annual Meeting
Every year, the NEM Expo is held during the HFES Annual Meeting, immediately following Student Career and Professional Development Day activities. The Expo consists of organizations and individuals putting together interactive booths where attendees can participate in and learn about past NEM outreach activities. Past sessions featured distinguished speakers who discussed topics related to NEM outreach. Previous speakers include:

The American Occupational Therapy Association held its 2009 Capitol Hill Day, which included a Capitol Hill briefing to educate legislators, staff, and the general public on workplace ergonomics.
The Puget Sound Chapter held its 2009 Occupational Ergonomics Symposium.

The University of Michigan HFES Student Chapter held their Annual Bad Designs on Campus Contest.
Inspired by the University of Michigan, the Georgia Tech HFES Student Chapter also held a Bad Designs on Campus Contest
The University of Louisville's Department of Industrial Engineering held Human Factors and Ergonomics Awareness Days during the first week of October.
Ron Shapiro led Games to Explain Human Factors at DocTrain East 2008 for Technical Writers.
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University hosted their 3rd Annual Human Factors and Ergonomics Demonstration Day.
Key Ovation participates in NEM by offering ergonomic products at a discount.
Active Ergonomics participated in the Health and Benefits Fair to promote NEM.
An NEM article was published by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
2007
The Purdue University HFES Student Chapter participated in a Women In Engineering Program (WIEP) by introducing 35 high school students to HF/E concepts. The Student Chapter also participated in the MINDS program for middle school students with a 90 minute presentation to approximately 50 students and their parents. Members also gave presentations at a local high school.
Partners Healthcare Occupational Health Service held a Luncheon Seminar on Patient Safety Handling.
The State Compensation Insurance Fund published an article on NEM.
The Progressive Rehabilitation Associates, through The Press Citizens Newsroom, published an NEM article.
Consulting firm Sandalwood Enterprises published an NEM article.
2006
The Georgia Tech HFES Student Chapter held a series of NEM activities, including a joint venture with the Center for Education Integrating Science, Mathematics and Computing's (CEISMC) Kids Interested in Discovering Science (K*I*D*S) hands-on workshop for 4th and 5th graders. Other activities included presentations at local high school sociology classes, and presenting at a local high school psychology conference. The Student Chapter also participated in a Culture Fair, presenting issues on cross-cultural usability.
The U.S. Army Center for Health Promotion and Preventative Medicine's Ergonomics Program published 52 Tips to Help You Celebrate NEM All Year Long.
The Industrial Hygiene and Safety Division of Los Alamos National Labs hosted Ergonomic Expos and Presentations to promote NEM.
PR.com published an NEM article.
2005
The University at Buffalo, SUNY's HFES Student Chapter hosted the 6th Annual Interregional Human Factors Conference.
The University of Central Florida's HFES Student Chapter developed and distributed a Famous Faces Calendar in which each month presented an HF/E professional in the form of a movie poster and highlighted their specific discipline in HF/E.
The University of Texas San Antonio published an NEM article.
2004
The University of Central Florida's HFES Student Chapter held an NEM event at the Orlando Science Center for children and their parents, had Orlando proclaim October as National Ergonomics Month, and participated in a local Toastmaster's event with a lecture focused on HF/E.
Virginia Tech's HFES Student Chapter held a series of NEM activities, including a seminar on Automation Acceptance and a featured lecture on transitioning to the HF/E consulting profession.
Old Dominion's HFES Student Chapter held a series of NEM activities, including publishing an article on the ODU Web site, adapting the Games to Explain HF/E for Introductory Psychology classes, for an event open to all undergraduate students, and for several elementary school classes in the city of Portsmouth. Finally, the Student Chapter participated in Norfolk's Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia.
2003
Georgia Tech University's HFES Student Chapter held a series of NEM activities focused on educating children in k-12. Activities included a joint venture with the Center for Education Integrating Science, Mathematics, and Computing's (CEISMC) Kids Interested in Discovering Science (K*I*D*S) hands-on workshop, which included 75 participants.
Old Dominion's HFES Student Chapter successfully entered an ergonomics related slogan to the University's Safety Committee's Slogan Contest, as part of ODU's Workplace Safety and Health Program. Their entry, You Can't Rewind a Workplace Accident: Prevent the Worst - Think Safety First! was one of the three winning slogans and was displayed throughout campus. The Student Chapter also gave two presentations to a local college prep school. Finally, the Student Chapter participated in Habitat for Humanity as an NEM outreach activity.
The University of Central Florida's HFES Student Chapter attended "Teach-In", an event to provide information about various careers, at nearby University High School.
