The HFES Bulletin, published 12 times a year, serves as the forum for members to keep abreast of current Society news as well as events in the human factors and ergonomics field. Issues contain a calendar of events, calls for papers, notices of meetings and courses, and advertisements of job and research opportunities as well as for products, services, and tools for human factors practitioners and researchers.
HFES welcomes brief (1,000 words maximum) news articles of general interest to the membership, including but not limited to summaries of interesting or innovative work in the human factors/ergonomics field or a closely related field; developments in institutions, agencies, and organizations that have a bearing on Society members; and reports of meetings, activities, and events relevant to members' interests. Articles with technical content are subject to technical review. Occasionally, opinion pieces on issues of relevance to a broad segment of the membership are published; to present a balanced perspective, HFES may solicit a counterpoint opinion.
All submissions are evaluated on the basis of interest and usefulness to the membership, consistency with HFES policies (e.g., Operating Rules, Bylaws, and Code of Ethics), and quality (e.g., accuracy, logical flow of ideas and conclusions, statements well supported by facts). HFES makes every effort to include relevant submissions given space constraints, timeliness, and suitability of content; however, the Society reserves the right to reject articles that are judged unsuitable.
