Ergonomics in Design: The Quarterly of Human Factors Applications is intended to serve the needs of practicing human factors/ergonomics professionals who are concerned with the usability of products, systems, tools, and environments. It provides up-to-date demonstrations of the importance of HF/E principles in design and implementation. Articles, case studies, anecdotes, debates, and interviews focus on the way in which HF/E research and methods are applied in the design, development, prototyping, test and evaluation, training, and manufacturing processes of a product or system.

UPDATE: HFES is pleased to announce the appointment of Carol Stuart-Buttle, MS, CPE, MErgS, as incoming Editor of Ergonomics in Design. She is a consultant in ergonomics and principal at Stuart-Buttle Ergonomics (SBE) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Since 1987, Stuart-Buttle has worked with corporations representing a broad spectrum of products and services, as well as nonprofit organizations and government entities. She has chaired the American Industrial Hygiene Association's Ergonomics Committee and the HFES Outreach Advisory Committee, as well as serving HFES as secretary-treasurer and Executive Council member at large. Stuart-Buttle was a Director of the Board of Certification in Professional Ergonomics for eight years. Prior to starting SBE, she worked at the Essex Corporation. Stuart-Buttle began her term on January 1, 2010.
