The UC Ergonomics Research & Graduate Training Program, the UC Center for Occupational and Environmental Health, the Bay Area HFES Chapter, and the San Francisco ASSE present a 2-day course on the latest updates, techniques, and tools to assess physical exposures in the workplace. This course includes seminars and hands-on workshops for participants to learn new technologies and approaches to measuring physical exposure and assessing risk for musculoskeletal disorders.


  • Understand and apply the following exposure and risk assessment tools: Strain Index, Fatigue Predicting tools (MAE, ACGIH UE Fatigue TLV, NIOSH Lifting Equation)
  • Select appropriate measurement tools for ergonomic assessment
  • Interpret and apply up-to-date assessment techniques


University of Michigan Human Factors Engineering Short Course, July 24–29, 2017, and July 31–August 4, 2017 — University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI.
This two-week human factors course, now in its 58th year, concerns the design of systems, products, and services to make them easier, safer, and more effective for human use.

Week 1 (July 24–29, 2017): The first week of the course focuses on human factors concepts and is a broad survey of human factors topics important to designers and researchers.

Week 2 (July 31–August 4, 2017): Human-computer interaction is the focus for week two of the course and presents an overview of major topics and issues in human-computer interaction through workshops on selected concepts, methods, and procedures that provide the foundation for design of effective human-computer systems and web applications.
