On April 28, the Friends of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) coalition sent a letter to urge leaders of both the House and Senate Labor, Health & Human Services, and Education (Labor-HHS) Appropriations Subcommittees to appropriate at least $399.121 million for NIOSH in fiscal year (FY) 2017. HFES signed on to this letter, which strongly opposes elimination of the NIOSH-supported Education Research Centers and the Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing Program, as well as cuts to the National Occupational Research Agenda that was proposed in the president's FY 2017 budget request. HFES regularly engages with Friends of NIOSH to support HFES members and their interests in these programs.
Friends of NIOSH is a coalition of industry, professional, scientific, labor, and educational organizations concerned with decreasing and preventing work-related injury and illness.
