Inclusive HF/E: Apply for Support to Attend ASPIRE

Attention Students,

Are you curious about what drives people to behave a certain way, especially in their interactions with technology? Would you like to leverage this curiosity and be part of designing a better future for all?  We at the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES) are thrilled to introduce to you the field of human factors and ergonomics (HFE). Each year, members of our professional society gather to network and discuss the latest innovations in our field. Known as ASPIRE, this year’s international annual meeting will be held at the Chicago Hyatt Regency Hotel from October 13 - 17, 2025.

If you are interested in learning more about our field and identify as a member of an underrepresented group in science or engineering, we have a program that can fund your registration costs to attend (valued at $269). Priority will be given to students at Midwestern universities. If you are coming from out of state, travel support may also be available to support airfare and a day of lodging. To apply, please complete the application form linked below by August 2nd, 2025. Finalists will be notified one week after the due date with more information on how to register.

Application Form

The application takes approximately 15 minutes to complete.

What can you expect from attending? There is a special day reserved for student-focused activities on Monday, October 13th, and you are warmly welcomed to attend our Inclusive HFE (iHFE) day the following Wednesday, October 15th, which includes a free luncheon. As part of this program, you would also be invited to join a mentorship/mentee program, and to provide your reflection about your conference experience before you depart. However, the full conference would be open to you, including sessions from our many technical groups in: aerospace, aging, cybersecurity, education, forensics, healthcare, extended reality, healthcare, occupational ergonomics, safety, transportation, sustainability, training, and usability.

Throughout the meeting, you will have the opportunity to engage with thought leaders, researchers, and practitioners who are shaping the future of human factors and ergonomics. With a diverse range of sessions, workshops, and networking events, you can immerse yourself in discussions about groundbreaking research, innovative science and design methods, and real-world applications.

Please take some time to review the meeting schedule.

If you have any questions, need guidance, or simply want to connect before the conference begins, feel free to reach out to me, Mike Rayo at rayo.3@osu.edu. We are looking forward to meeting you and witnessing the contributions you will make to our vibrant community.
