Foundation for Professional Ergonomics Elects New President
The Foundation for Professional Ergonomics (FPE) has elected Professor Farzan Sasangohar as its new President. Professor Sasangohar’s vision is to enhance the global impact of human factors and ergonomics (HFE) researchers and practitioners by promoting international outreach and collaboration among professional societies. Professor Sasangohar said “Through meaningful collaborative projects, shared expertise, and inclusive partnerships, FPE will contribute to elevating the role of HFE as a crucial contributor to innovation, safety, and sustainability worldwide."
Dr. Sasangohar is an Associate Professor of Industrial and Systems Engineering and Environmental and Occupational Health at Texas A&M University. He is Director of the Applied Cognitive Ergonomics Laboratory, Director at the Center for Worker Health, and Editor-in-Chief of Human Factors in Healthcare. Dr. Sasangohar has published more than 200 peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Sasangohar’s research interests include user-centered design and evaluation of remote and continuous monitoring tools for workers’ physical and mental health and performance in sociotechnical systems. He has received several international research, teaching, and service awards including the Technical Innovations in IE and Hamed K. Eldin Outstanding Early Career IE in Academia Award from the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE); Jack A. Kraft Innovator Award, William C. Howell Young Investigator Award, and Bentzi-Karsh Early-Career Service Award from HFES and Kingfar Early Career Researcher Award from the International Ergonomics Association (IEA).
