Foundation for Professional Ergonomics Elects New Director and Secretary

The Foundation for Professional Ergonomics (FPE), an organization dedicated to promoting the science and professional practice of human factors and ergonomics worldwide, has elected Camille Bilger of the United Kingdom as a new FPE director.

Bilger is a principal engineer and head of the Human Systems Integration (HSI) Department at Martin-Baker Aircraft Ltd. in the United Kingdom. Her research focuses on accidental injury biomechanics and the application of HSI within systems engineering processes for the airworthiness certification of crew escape systems. She is a board member and fellow of the Survival and Flight Equipment (SAFE) Association, as well as editor-in-chief of the SAFE Journal. Additionally, she is a chartered engineer and active member of the Royal Aeronautical Society, a member of the Aerospace Medical Association, and a technical representative to the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) International G-45 HSI committee.

After more than 14 years of service, Richard Kelly has resigned as the FPE secretary. He will be succeeded by Waldemar Karwowski, a pegasus professor and chairman of the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management Systems at the University of Central Florida. Karwowski holds a master's degree in production engineering and management from the University of Technology Wroclaw, Poland, and a PhD in industrial engineering from Texas Tech University. He was awarded a Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) in management science by the Institute for Organization and Management in Industry in Warsaw and he received the National Professorship title from the president of Poland in 2012.
