What packages are available?
Digital Library-Archive is a one-time purchase of all online volumes except the most recent three years (e.g., in 2010, all but the years 2008-2010).
When will the Digital Library be available?
The Digital Library opened in October 2007.
How long will I have access to the content?
Digital Library-Archive is a one-time purchase with perpetual access. To update the collection annually (for example, to add 2008 volumes in 2011), a $100 annual update/maintenance fee is required.
What are the terms of use?
Institutions are required to sign a license agreement. If you have questions about any of the terms in the License Agreement, please contact HFES Communications Director Lois Smith.
What does the Digital Library cost?
The 2010 rates are as follows:
Digital Library-Archive (up to the year 2007): $2,000
DL-Archive optional maintenance fee for additional back volumes: $100
What happens if I choose not to pay the annual maintenance fee?
You will continue to have access to the content that was available at the time you purchased Digital Library-Archive; no additional back volumes will be accessible.
How can I purchase the Digital Library-Archive?
Order through your subscription agent (5% agency discount applies) or place a secure online order at the Digital Library-Archive Web page.
How can I access the content once I've purchased it?
The Digital Library is hosted on IngentaConnect. HFES will send you instructions for registering for access and/or adding the Digital Library to your existing subscriptions. When HFES turns on access (1-2 business days after registration), you will be able to access all content for which you have paid/subscribed.
How can I view sample content before I decide to subscribe?
You can sign up for a free trial to access one issue of each publication for 30 days at IngentaConnect. If you have never before registered on IngentaConnect, go to https://www.ingentaconnect.com/register/institutional. Then select "Sign up for a free trial" on the page of the publication(s) you're interested in viewing.
How many users can access the Digital Library at the same time?
There is no limit to the number of concurrent users.
Can users within different locations in our institution access the content?
Yes, if your institution permits access from multiple locations on campus.
How can I obtain user data?
IngentaConnect permits librarians to access data about downloads of full text to gauge usage demand.
What is the rate for multisite licenses?
For each geographically distinct site within the consortium or system, the single-institutional rates shown above are discounted by 25%.
Whom should I contact if I have additional questions?
Contact the HFES Communications Department, 310/394-1811, fax 310/394-2410.
