The Human Factors and Ergonomics Society is a multidisciplinary professional association of more than 4500 persons in the United States and throughout the world. Its members include psychologists, engineers, designers, and scientists, all of whom have a common interest in designing systems and equipment to be safe and effective for the people who operate and maintain them.

Members are employed in industries, universities and colleges, government agencies, consulting firms, military research centers, public utilities, and other settings. More than 40% hold a doctoral degree, a third hold a master's degree, and about 15% have a bachelor's degree (as the highest degree held in all categories). Students make up about 15% of the total membership.

Anyone with an interest in the field may join HFES by completing a membership application. HFES offers several categories of membership, all of which have the same member benefits. Full Members may also vote and hold office; see the membership categories for details about joining as a Full Member.

View the dues options, and follow the simple steps for joining HFES.
