Member Milestones
Arnold M. Lund, CUXP, director of user experience at Microsoft and HFES Fellow, has been elected to the Association for Computing Machinery Special Interest Group on Computer-Human Interaction (ACM SIGCHI) Academy. Lund was honored for his work with both HFES and SIGCHI, as well as a career spanning both research and practice. He may be reached at alund@microsoft.com.

Christina C. Mendat was recently named research manager in the Boston office of Insight. She will lead research efforts to better understand users, respective interaction patterns, and design opportunities by employing various research methodologies and approaches. | John A. Stern passed away on April 3, 2010. He was a prolific researcher, a gifted teacher, and a mentor to many students. He received his PhD at the University of Illinois in 1953 and spent his academic life at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, in the School of Medicine and the Department of Psychology. After becoming a professor emeritus in 2000, he continued his involvement with the university's Behavioral Research Laboratories, where he had been director for 20 years. Stern was one of the founding members of Psychophysiology in Ergonomics (PIE - now a Technical Committee of the International Ergonomics Association) and became its first president. He played a major role in promoting psychophysiology in ergonomics and helped many people begin successful research careers.
