HFES Eye-Tracking Webinar PowerPoint Now Available
Friday, December 11, 2009

The Human Factors and Ergonomics Society's second free Web-based seminar was a huge success, with more than 300 virtual attendees. Speaker Gavin Lew's PowerPoint slides may now be downloaded (.pdf, 8 MB).

Details about the Webinar are as follows:

Date: Friday, December 11, 2009

Time: 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Pacific time (11:00-12:30 Central, 12:00-1:30 Eastern)

Topic: The Role of Eye Tracking in User Experience Research

Presenter: Gavin Lew, Managing Director, User Centric, Inc.

Moderator: Anthony D. Andre, Interface Analysis Associates

Webinar Abstract:

The ability to track eye movements for scientific research has existed for generations. Recent technological advances in this area have made both data collection and analysis easy. Thus, what was once an extremely cumbersome and time-consuming research endeavor is now a very intriguing research technique: The visual outputs are sometimes being perceived as having more value than the data alone. Given the growing number of eye-tracking system installations in both academic and commercial research centers, a discussion of the role of eye tracking in user experience research is critical. During this Webinar, Gavin Lew will describe eye-tracking measures, methods, and applications to user experience research. He will also review User Centric's recent eye-tracking study comparing the Bing and Google search engines (http://www.usercentric.com/news/2009/06/08/eye-tracking-bing-vs-google-first-look).

Stay tuned to HFES for announcements about upcoming Webinars.
