HFES Publications Order Policies

Order Processing

HFES can usually process your order within two business days following receipt of payment. Delivery method in most cases is UPS ground, unless a post office box address is provided (then the order is sent via U.S. Postal Service mail or airmail). Expedited shipping options via UPS are available at additional cost when you order on line (next-day, 2-day, or 3-day air).

For special shipment requests (e.g., FedEx or other courier with billing to the recipient's address), please place your order by phone - 310/394-1811.

Sales Tax

Orders shipped to addresses in California will automatically include California sales tax, except for periodicals such as Human Factors or Ergonomics in Design.

Payment Methods

Orders are shipped when payment is received. When ordering on line, you may either provide credit card information (AMEX, VISA, or MasterCard) for a secure online purchase or indicate that you wish to pay by check. When your check is received, your order will be completed and processed for shipping.

Institutions that require a pro forma invoice prior to placing an order may request the invoice by contacting HFES at 310/394-1811, fax 310/394-2410, or store@hfes.org.

Periodicals Cancellation

Subscriptions to HFES periodicals (e.g., Human Factors) are for the calendar year. If you wish to cancel a periodicals subscription, note that a partial refund will be made for cancellations received before any issues are sent via mail or posted on the Web (less $50 for processing). Refunds are not made when subscriptions are canceled after the first issue has been delivered via mail or electronically.

Book Returns

Returns are not accepted unless (a) the materials ordered were received in heavily damaged condition, rendering them unreadable; and (b) a request for return is placed by phone, fax, or e-mail prior to shipment back to HFES.

HFES books, standards, and best practices guidelines are available at the following discounts to individuals and institutions:

3-10 copies: 10%
11-20 copies: 20%
21-30 copies: 25%
31+ copies: 35%

Discounted prices are automatically applied when you place an online order for multiple copies.
