Laparoscopic Surgeons to Benefit from Human Factors Expertise

The final prototype of the Intuitool, an ergonomically designed laparoscopic surgery tool that helps to prevent discomfort in surgeons. The Intuitool (seen in the bottom left in the picture above) was designed by Susan Hallbeck, associate professor in the Industrial & Management Systems Engineering Department at the University of Nebraska -Lincoln. The tool is patented and trademarked by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and licensed by Minnesota manufacturer Gyrus Medical. FDA approval is pending.
