2012 Human Factors Prize Topic: The HF/E Science Behind Product Design

Human Factors, the flagship journal of HFES, invites contributions that explore how the science of human factors/ergonomics can facilitate the design of many types of products. The specific product is not the focus; rather, we are seeking research that would facilitate product design in general. With this in mind, a contribution that describes how HF/E science has influenced an aspect of a product - the display on a smart phone, for example - would also be appropriate, as long as the focus is on the research behind that aspect.

Manuscripts should be uploaded to the Manuscript Central Web site (http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/humanfactors) between June 1 and July 1. UPDATE AS OF AUGUST 10, 2012: The winner will be notified by September 5 (formerly August 15) and invited to make a presentation about the work during a session at the HFES 56th Annual Meeting, to be held October 22-26 in Boston. The award carries a $10,000 cash prize and publication in the December 2012 issue of Human Factors.
