HFES Advertising Policies
The following policies apply to all advertisers. Specifications and shipping instructions may be found on the general artwork guidelines page. Please contact HFES if you have any questions.
All display ads that are provided camera-ready are eligible for a 15% agency commission. Classified rates are not commissionable.
HFES can set up the ad, in whole or in part. The setup charge is 25% of the gross ad rate for the first insertion.
First-time advertisers are required to make prepayment no later than the art due date. Following the first insertion, and contingent on the maintenance of good credit standing, ads will be invoiced on publication. Tearsheets will be sent in either case. Purchase orders must clearly indicate the billing address, contact person, phone, fax, and e-mail address.
Advertisers placing a 4X contract are rate protected regardless of circulation increases.
Payment is due upon receipt of invoice and tearsheets. Payment not received within 30 days will result in suspension of the 15% agency discount privilege. Advertisers, or agencies acting on their behalf, who are delinquent may also be required to prepay all future ads.
Advertisers whose invoices are past due more than 60 days are subject to interest and penalty charges of 1.5% per month.
Advertisers who sign up at multiple-time rates will be rebilled at the 1X rate for each ad if they fail to place the required number of insertions during the contract period.
Advertisers who cancel after the art due date are responsible for the total amount.

HFES does not endorse or guarantee any product or service advertised in any publication, nor is it required to endorse, recommend, or attempt to confirm the qualifications or services of any individual, company, or organization mentioned in advertisements. Advertisers are responsible for all content and for any claims arising from their advertisements made against HFES.

All reservations for ad space must be received in writing; oral reservations alone will not hold the space. Ad space is available on a first-come, first-served basis; therefore, an issue may close before its stated reservation deadline, or ads may be accepted after the deadline.
